Bacteria in wheelie bins

Bacteria in wheelie bins  have always been known as one of the biggest breeding grounds for for a whole host of the most common bateria which cause debillitating stomach bugs. Salmonella and Legionella are common as well as the more dangerous “super-bugs” like E.Coli, Clostridium and and Listeria.

We associate these bugs  in hospitals and the like but don’t normally think they can be found so close to home and that we are potentially coming into contact with them every day.

These bacteria have been known to cause Gastroenteritis in their mildest form up to chronic stomach infections, Septicaemia and even Meningitis, particularly dangerous to children.bacteria in wheelie bins

In addition to the bacteria in bins, fungal spores are present which have been known to cause chronic lung and also ear infections. Research showed that Candida Albicans are also present which result in minor ailments including thrush. Not to mention Systemic Candidosis which has been known to be fatal.

You are probably well aware of a bad smelling bin having a fly infestation, but wheelie bins also attract disease carriers like foxes, rats and other vermin.
